We stock most timber in 25mm, 38mm and 50mm thick and in some cases 76mm and thicker. All sizes are dependent on the species of timber. We carry different grades in most of the woods to provide the most economical solution to your project. Each timber is characterized by different qualities and properties which make them suitable for different purposes.

Molding/Skirtings

 

If you have an existing profile, we will try an assist to match it up as close as possible. We have a variety of profiles available which can be made up in the timber and sizes of your choice. If we do not have the mould you need, we can always create the mould with our special engendering moulders.

Decking & Structural Timber

Balau

 

This specie imported from the far east is perhaps the most well-known of all the decking species. It has been extensively used in major developments. Available in 40mm, 90mm 140mm and lengths up to 6.1m. a popular, durable tropical hardwood, often used in a lot of houses within the Western Cape.

Garapa

 

Garapa is a hardwood species native to Brazil. Garapa is a high density, exceptionally durable hardwood species that is ideal for use in exterior structures including decks, outdoor furniture, wood siding and more. Lighter in colour than balau it is also available in 40mm,90mm, 140mm and lengths up to 6.1m and in all structure sizes.

Ipe

 

The Rolls Royce of Decking timbers is rated as extremely durable and carries a class A fire rating. It is a beautiful exotic wood from South America. Ipe wood structures are hard, strong, and naturally resistant to rot, abrasion, weather, and insects. It is almost twice as dense as most woods and up to five times harder and rare. Available in 90mm and 140mm and lengths up to 6.1m. An exceptionally long-lasting hardwood.

Saligna

 

Locally grown and harvested this light pink timber offers a very good value for money.

Available in 21 x 100,140.

Massaranduba

 

A dark red timber imported from Brazil. Available in 90mm and lengths up to 6.1m.

Jatoba

 

Also known as Brazilian cherry, is one of the hardest exotic hardwood flooring materials available, ranking over 2800 on the Janka Hardness Scale (twice that of oak), making it a good choice for homes with children or pets or other situations where durability is important. Available in 90mm, 140mm and lengths up to 6.1m

Remember a deck is only as good as it’s substructure. We recommend that a CCA treated Pine or hardwood structure to be used.
